enset catalogs microsatellite (simple sequence repeat, SSR) markers for Ensete ventricosum to support genetic diversity assessment, genotyping, and breeding-related genomic studies.

  • Microsatellite identification: 233 microsatellites (SSRs) per megabase pair (Mbp) were identified in the Ensete ventricosum genome, representing approximately 0.28% of the genomic content.
  • Marker development: 154,586 non-redundant microsatellite markers were identified and 40 markers were selected for primer development.
  • Polymorphism and genetic diversity: 92.5% of developed markers were polymorphic with a Polymorphism Information Content (PIC) of 0.87 and expected heterozygosity (He) ranging from 0.79 to 0.82.
  • Cross-species transferability: In silico analysis showed 46.86% marker transferability among enset species and 1.90% transferability to Musa (banana).
  • Database (EnMom@base): EnMom@base centralizes the identified SSR markers and associated marker information for Ensete ventricosum.
