findpromoter

findpromoter identifies promoter motifs and optionally adapter sequences across species to support analysis of regulatory elements from next-generation DNA sequencing data.

Key Features:

  • Promoter Motif Identification: Searches for promoter motifs in a target species using data derived from a source species to detect conserved regulatory elements.
  • Adapter Sequence Detection (Optional): Detects adapter sequences present in sequencing data to assist processing of next-generation DNA sequencing datasets.

Scientific Applications:

  • Cross-Species Comparative Genomics: Identifies conserved promoter regions across species to support studies of evolutionary conservation and divergence in gene regulation.
  • Gene Expression Studies: Pinpoints regulatory elements that may influence gene expression patterns for functional genomics analyses.

Methodology:

Leverages advanced computational techniques to analyze large datasets generated by next-generation DNA sequencing technologies and is integrated within the Galaxy project framework.
