First Person Bioimage
First Person Bioimage provides immersive, GPU-accelerated visualization and interactive exploration of terascale 3D volumetric bioimaging datasets to enable direct volumetric navigation and inspection for analysis and interpretation.
Key Features:
- Supported modalities: Handles terascale 3D datasets from SPIM, 3D STORM, OPT, tomographic EM, MRI, and CT.
- GPU-accelerated rendering: Uses GPU-accelerated rendering capabilities available in contemporary browsers to enable responsive visualization.
- Volumetric rendering: Provides full-volume volumetric rendering rather than curated static snapshots or videos.
- First-person navigation: Implements a first-person navigation metaphor for spatial traversal and contextualization of structures within volumes.
- Interactive exploration and manipulation: Supports real-time interactive navigation and data manipulation of large volumetric datasets.
- Reproducibility and transparency: Enables direct access to complete volumetric data to facilitate transparent research communication and collaborative interpretation.
Scientific Applications:
- Visualization of large-scale datasets: Visual inspection and exploration of terascale 3D bioimaging data across SPIM, 3D STORM, OPT, tomographic EM, MRI, and CT modalities.
- Structural interpretation: Contextualization and inspection of fine structural details within full-volume biological specimens.
- Reproducible data sharing: Support for transparent presentation and reuse of complete volumetric microscopy datasets to aid reproducibility.
- Collaborative analysis: Facilitation of collaborative interpretation and comparative analysis of volumetric imaging experiments.
Methodology:
Implements browser-based GPU-accelerated volumetric rendering and real-time interactive navigation using a first-person navigation metaphor to provide full-volume access and manipulation of terascale 3D datasets.
