ForSys
ForSys infers intercellular stresses and intracellular pressures from time-lapse microscopy to enable analysis of spatiotemporal patterns of mechanical forces during tissue morphogenesis in vivo.
Key Features:
- Static stress inference: Estimates tissue stresses from single time-point microscopy data.
- Dynamic stress inference: Incorporates tissue dynamics and temporal information into stress estimation.
- Segmentation input compatibility: Accepts segmentation inputs from EPySeg and Cellpose.
- Multiple interfaces: Supports command-line use, scripting, and graphical interface operation within Fiji.
Scientific Applications:
- Zebrafish lateral-line primordium migration: Revealed increased stress during cell rounding preceding mitosis and accurately predicted the onset of epithelial rosettogenesis.
- Neuromast development: Uncovered mechanical asymmetries linked to cell type-specific adhesion.
- Tissue morphogenesis analysis: Enables analysis of spatiotemporal patterns of mechanical forces during tissue development and regeneration in vivo.
Methodology:
ForSys performs stress inference from time-lapse microscopy data after validation against known mechanical measurements.
