Gene Set Builder
Gene Set Builder compiles, stores, exports, and shares gene sets to support multi-gene analyses of sequential, functional, and expressional relationships among genes.
Key Features:
- Support for Multiple Genomes: Supports 17 eukaryotic genomes from version 32 of the Ensembl database, encompassing species from yeast to human.
- User-Created Information Storage: Allows creation and storage of custom gene sets with personalized annotations.
- Export and Sharing Capabilities: Exports gene sets as lists of identifiers, tables, or sequences and enables sharing with specific users or public release.
- Integration with Analysis Tools: Provides a Perl API to enable direct connectivity with custom analysis tools.
- Database-driven Backend: Uses a database-driven system for storing and managing gene sets.
Scientific Applications:
- Multi-gene Analysis: Facilitates compilation and management of gene sets for analyses of sequential, functional, and expressional relationships among genes.
- Functional Genomics: Supports functional genomics investigations by organizing gene groups for downstream analysis and interpretation.
- Comparative Genomics: Enables cross-species comparative studies using gene sets drawn from the 17 supported eukaryotic genomes.
- Identifier Management: Reduces time required for finding and converting gene identifiers for downstream analyses.
Methodology:
Database-driven storage that leverages gene catalogs from Ensembl (version 32) and GeneLynx and exposes a Perl API for programmatic access.
