GeneSet2miRNA
GeneSet2miRNA identifies microRNA (miRNA) regulatory activity in user-provided gene lists to infer miRNA-regulatory models indicative of post-transcriptional gene regulation.
Key Features:
- Input: Accepts a curated list of genes as input.
- Output: Produces miRNA-regulatory models comprising single miRNAs or combinations of up to four (pairs, triplets, quadruplets) predicted to regulate a significant subset of the input gene list.
- Model Organism Support: Supports analysis for multiple model organisms.
- Computational Modeling: Applies predictive computational modeling to detect signatures of miRNA activity within gene lists.
Scientific Applications:
- Functional Genomics: Investigating miRNA-mediated regulation of specific gene sets to elucidate cellular pathways and processes.
- Disease Research: Exploring altered miRNA regulatory activity in disease contexts for biomarker or therapeutic target discovery.
- Comparative Genomics: Analyzing conserved or species-specific miRNA regulatory patterns across different organisms.
Methodology:
Employs a predictive computational modeling approach that analyzes gene lists for signatures indicative of miRNA activity to identify groups of miRNAs that collectively regulate subsets of input genes.
