GEnZ Explorer

GEnZ Explorer enables visualization and analysis of agroclimatic zones to support environmental risk assessment (ERA) and evaluation of transportability of confined field trial (CFT) data for genetically engineered (GE) crops, covering 21 major crops and crop categories.

Key Features:

  • Agroclimate Visualization: Provides detailed visualization of agroclimatic zones to identify and compare climatic conditions relevant to the production of 21 major crops and crop categories.
  • Spatial Analysis: Maps and analyzes the geographical distribution of agroclimate zones to inform assessment of CFT data transportability across countries and regions.
  • Crop Production Information: Integrates crop production metrics with climatic data to contextualize agroclimatic suitability for confined field trials.

Scientific Applications:

  • Transportability assessment: Supports regulatory authorities and applicants in determining whether CFT data from one location are applicable to another location for ERA.
  • Trial site selection: Aids developers in selecting agroclimatically suitable locations for future CFTs to optimize trial design and data relevance for ERA.

Methodology:

Identifies and categorizes agroclimate zones by integrating climatic data with crop production metrics.
