GESS v2
GESS v2 analyzes single-nucleotide variants (SNVs) in millions of high-quality, high-coverage complete SARS-CoV-2 (hCoV-19) genomes to support surveillance of variant emergence, geographic enrichment, and lineage migration.
Key Features:
- Enhanced Query Platform: Query SNVs using viral nucleotide or amino-acid sequences.
- Geographical Analysis: Identify SNVs and SARS-CoV-2 lineages enriched in specific countries and reconstruct lineage migration paths across global maps over defined time periods.
- Dynamic Monitoring: Detect and track temporal dynamics of newly emerging SNVs on a monthly timescale to identify variants with increasing prevalence.
- Data Export: Export analyzed SNV result sets for downstream independent analyses.
Scientific Applications:
- Evolutionary surveillance: Characterize SARS-CoV-2 evolutionary patterns by analyzing SNV frequencies and distributions across genomes.
- Transmission dynamics: Assess associations between SNVs/lineages and viral transmission patterns.
- Geographic epidemiology: Trace geographic spread and migration of SARS-CoV-2 lineages for epidemiological investigations.
- Vaccine and public-health assessment: Monitor emergence of variants to inform vaccine-relevant and public-health response analyses.
Methodology:
Analyze SNVs derived from Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID) high-quality, high-coverage complete genomes; support nucleotide and amino-acid sequence queries, country-level enrichment analysis, monthly SNV dynamic monitoring, and lineage migration tracing.
