gganatogram
gganatogram is an R package that simplifies visualizing data on anatomical structures. It combines the graphical grammar of ggplot2 with publicly available anatograms from the Expression Atlas, enabling users to create modular, reproducible anatograms with minimal effort. By providing a single command and a data frame containing tissue name, group, color, and value, users can visualize specific human and mouse tissues, group them by a variable, or display desired values such as gene expression, pharmacokinetics, or bacterial load across selected tissues.
The package includes highly annotated anatograms for male and female humans and mice, a cell anatogram, and 24 less annotated organisms from the animal and plant kingdoms. gganatogram aims to be a valuable tool for the broader biological sciences community, and users are encouraged to submit additional anatograms for incorporation into the package.
