GlobPlot WS (jabaws)

GlobPlot WS (jabaws) predicts order/globularity and intrinsic disorder along protein sequences to identify ordered regions, disordered segments, and short linear peptide motifs for structural and functional analysis.

Key Features:

  • Order/Globularity and Disorder Prediction: Visualizes propensity for order/globularity versus intrinsic disorder along a query protein sequence.
  • Identification of Unstructured Regions: Detects unstructured or disordered regions that often contain short linear peptide motifs such as SH3-binding sites.
  • Domain Hunting and Analysis: Reveals inter-domain segments, ordered regions lacking recognized domains, and locations of linear motifs to inform domain annotation.
  • GlobPipe pipeline: Provides a pipeline interface (GlobPipe) for batch and whole-proteome analyses.

Scientific Applications:

  • Structural Biology Studies: Assists design of constructs corresponding to globular proteins for biochemical and structural experiments.
  • Proteome Analysis: Enables comprehensive whole-proteome analyses via the GlobPipe pipeline for large-scale protein disorder and domain surveys.

Methodology:

Computes and plots order/globularity versus disorder propensity along protein sequences using a graphical approach and provides the GlobPipe pipeline for whole-proteome processing.
