GO-Elite
GO-Elite performs over-representation analysis of structured ontology annotations, pathway databases, and biological identifiers to identify non-overlapping enriched pathway and ontology terms for genes, proteins, and metabolites.
Key Features:
- Over-representation analysis: Performs over-representation analysis on any structured ontology annotations, pathway databases, or biological IDs including genes, proteins, and metabolites.
- Ontology structure exploitation: Exploits the hierarchical/structured nature of biological ontologies to identify and report a minimal set of non-overlapping terms.
- Species and ID coverage: Supports over 60 species and over 50 ID systems spanning gene, disease, and phenotype ontologies and multiple pathway databases.
- Regulatory and biomarker targets: Includes biomarkers and targets for transcription factors and microRNAs.
- Pathway and gene-set analysis: Applies enrichment and pathway analysis across diverse pathways and gene sets.
- Visualization outputs: Produces results compatible with WikiPathways and network diagram representations.
Scientific Applications:
- Pathway enrichment: Identification and interpretation of enriched pathways across species and identifier systems.
- Ontology-driven insight: Generation of concise, non-redundant GO, disease, and phenotype term summaries for biological datasets.
- Regulatory and biomarker discovery: Detection of biomarkers and targets related to transcription factors and microRNAs.
- Omics data interpretation: Interpretation of complex gene, protein, and metabolite datasets in genomics and molecular biology studies.
Methodology:
Performs over-representation analysis on ontology annotations, pathway databases, and IDs, exploits ontology structure to select a minimal set of non-overlapping enriched terms, and outputs results for visualization via WikiPathways or network diagrams.
