gwascat
gwascat provides representation and modeling of data from the EMBL-EBI GWAS Catalog to enable programmatic access and analysis of genome-wide association study (GWAS) variant and association records.
Key Features:
- Integration with Bioconductor: Interfaces with the Bioconductor ecosystem and the R statistical programming language for interoperable genomic data analysis.
- Extensive package support: Leverages Bioconductor's repository of packages (notably the community-contributed collection of over 900 packages) subject to formal review and automated testing for analysis workflows.
- High-throughput genomic data representation: Represents GWAS Catalog variant and association records to support analysis of large-scale genomic datasets.
Scientific Applications:
- Genome-wide association studies (GWAS): Supports identification and retrieval of genetic variants and associations linked to traits or diseases from the GWAS Catalog.
- Modeling and interpretation of GWAS datasets: Enables statistical modeling and interpretation of complex GWAS data to investigate the genetic basis of phenotypes.
Methodology:
Implements data representation and modeling using Bioconductor within R, utilizing R-based packages for statistical analyses and data modeling of GWAS Catalog records.
