HDVdb

HDVdb provides a centralized repository of Hepatitis D virus (HDV) partial and complete genomic sequences and analysis tools to support studies of HDV genetic variability, genotyping, and epidemiology.

Key Features:

  • Comprehensive Sequence Collection: Contains partial and complete HDV genomic sequences sourced from GenBank and an internal patient cohort.
  • Genotype and Subtype Classification: Supports provisional classification into eight major genotypes and various subtypes of HDV.
  • Sequence Annotation: Offers sequence annotation capabilities for HDV genomic data.
  • Genotyping: Provides computational genotyping of HDV sequences.
  • Primer Prediction: Includes primer prediction functionality for assay and experimental design.
  • Phylogenetic Analyses: Enables phylogenetic analyses of HDV sequences to assess evolutionary relationships.
  • Hypervariable Region Analysis: Facilitates analysis of the HDV hypervariable region to evaluate sequence variability.
  • Drug-resistance Mutation Analysis: Supports identification and investigation of drug-resistant mutations in HDV sequences.

Scientific Applications:

  • Genetic variability studies: Enables characterization of sequence diversity across HDV genomes and the hypervariable region.
  • Genotype–epidemiology correlations: Supports analyses linking HDV genotypes and subtypes to epidemiological patterns.
  • Pathogenesis research: Facilitates investigation of genotype-associated differences in HDV pathogenesis.
  • Drug-resistance monitoring: Aids identification and study of mutations associated with antiviral resistance.
  • Assay and primer design: Provides primer prediction to support development of molecular diagnostics and experimental assays.
  • Vaccine and therapeutic development support: Supplies sequence and genotype data relevant to design and evaluation of HDV therapeutics and vaccines.

Methodology:

Sequences are integrated from GenBank and an internal patient cohort; provided computational functions include sequence annotation, genotyping, primer prediction, and phylogenetic analyses.
