HIVoligoDB - The HIV oligonucleotide database

HIVoligoDB provides a curated collection of oligonucleotides for HIV-1 and HIV-2 to support analysis of HIV genomic diversity and the development of molecular diagnostics and sequence-based therapeutics.

Key Features:

  • Comprehensive Oligonucleotide Collection: Contains 380 oligonucleotides for HIV-1 and 65 for HIV-2 selected from curated reference genomes.
  • Curated and Annotated Data: Entries are regularly updated and annotated to reflect current reference genomes and annotations.
  • Genomic Diversity and Binding-site Focus: Includes oligonucleotides associated with binding sites across the HIV genome to facilitate identification of conserved and variable regions.

Scientific Applications:

  • Diagnostic assay design: Enables selection of conserved oligonucleotide targets for molecular diagnostics of HIV infection.
  • Sequence-based therapeutic strategies: Supports design and evaluation of sequence-specific antiretroviral therapeutics by providing binding-site-specific oligonucleotide sequences.
  • Genomic diversity studies: Facilitates analysis of HIV genetic diversity across HIV-1 and HIV-2 to inform studies of viral evolution and target conservation.

Methodology:

Selection and annotation of oligonucleotides are based on curated reference genomes.
