HMS-ICS
HMS-ICS automates maintenance and resolution of hyperlinks among major public life-science databases and provides identifier conversion between database-specific IDs to support integration of genomic and proteomic data.

- Automated Hyperlink Maintenance: Automatically updates and maintains hyperlinks among major databases to keep links current without manual intervention.
- Comprehensive ID Support: Supports data IDs from International Nucleotide Sequence Databases, HUGO Gene Symbols, UniProt, PDB, H-InvDB, the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee Database, NCBI Entrez Gene, and related resources.
- Dynamic URL Generation (CGI): Provides a CGI program that generates correct, up-to-date URLs for database entries based on specified identifiers for resources such as H-InvDB, HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee Database, NCBI Entrez Gene, UniProt, and PDB.
- Daily Correspondence Tables: Creates daily corresponding tables of data IDs from major databases that underpin hyperlink generation and identifier mapping.
- ID Conversion (ICS): Includes the ID Converter System (ICS) that converts between database-specific identifiers using the corresponding tables maintained by HMS.
Scientific Applications:
- Cross-database integration: Enables cross-referencing of gene and protein annotations across multiple genomic and proteomic databases to support integrative analyses.
- Bulk retrieval of H-InvDB Locus views: Enables retrieval of 23,297 pages of Locus view in H-InvDB using HUGO Gene Symbols for large-scale data linkage.
Methodology:
Creates daily corresponding tables of data IDs from major databases; uses those tables to generate and maintain hyperlinks; integrates a CGI program for real-time URL generation; and uses the same corresponding tables for identifier conversion via ICS.
