Honeycomb

Honeycomb provides standardized creation, deployment, reproducibility, and sharing of jsPsych-based psychophysiological tasks for studies of cognitive control, reward evaluation, learning, and concurrent electrophysiological recordings.

Key Features:

  • jsPsych-based template: A standardized task creation template implemented on jsPsych for running behavioral experiments in a web browser.
  • Continuous deployment configurations: Configurations to deploy tasks across research settings, clinics, and participants' homes.
  • BeeHive curated library: A public repository (BeeHive) of ready-to-use tasks for integration into studies.
  • Support for concurrent electrophysiology: Enables task deployment compatible with simultaneous electrophysiological recordings.
  • Reproducibility and sharing: Facilities to maintain, reproduce, and share psychophysiological task implementations.
  • Demonstrated use case: Applied in a deep brain stimulation study for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) with repeated task completion in clinical and home settings.

Scientific Applications:

  • Behavioral neuroscience: Studying human behavior related to cognitive control, reward evaluation, and learning.
  • Electrophysiological experiments: Collecting behavioral data concurrently with electrophysiological recordings.
  • Neuromodulation research: Supporting studies involving deep brain stimulation, including repeated assessments across contexts.
  • Ecological validity: Conducting longitudinal and remote assessments by deploying tasks in clinics and participants' homes.

Methodology:

Uses a jsPsych-based standardized task template, continuous deployment configurations, and a curated BeeHive task library.
