HostSeq

HostSeq aggregates whole genome sequencing (WGS) data and linked clinical phenotypes from approximately 10,000 Canadians infected with SARS-CoV-2 to support research on COVID-19 risk factors and health outcomes.

Key Features:

  • WGS and clinical linkage: Aggregates whole genome sequencing (WGS) data with clinical information from SARS-CoV-2–infected individuals.
  • Cohort composition: Combines data from 13 independent epidemiological studies across five Canadian provinces totaling approximately 10,000 participants.
  • Phenotype summaries: Provides summary statistics of major variables and their distributions.
  • Variant-region queries: Enables querying of genomic variants within specific genomic regions.
  • Summary-level project information: Supplies aggregate project design and summary-level dataset information.
  • Statistical considerations: Addresses data aggregation methods, sampling mechanisms, covariate adjustment, and analyses specific to the X chromosome.

Scientific Applications:

  • COVID-19 risk factor analysis: Facilitates investigation of host genetic and clinical risk factors associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 outcomes.
  • Host genetic association studies: Supports identification of genetic loci associated with susceptibility, severity, and clinical heterogeneity of COVID-19.
  • Intervention development support: Informs vaccine and therapeutic research by linking host genetic variation to disease phenotypes.
  • Cross-cohort analyses: Enables multi-study meta-analyses and comparative analyses across diverse study designs and populations.

Methodology:

Integration of WGS and clinical data, summarization of phenotype variables and distributions, variant queries within genomic regions, and statistical analyses addressing data aggregation methods, sampling mechanisms, covariate adjustments, and X chromosome–specific analyses.
