HPIPred

HPIPred predicts host-pathogen protein-protein interactions (PPIs) and prioritizes them using phenotypic scoring to identify biologically relevant interactions.

Key Features:

  • Numerical Encoding: HPIPred encodes protein features numerically using physicochemical properties to enable PPI prediction.
  • Integration of Phenotypic Data: The predictive model incorporates phenotypic data to prioritize interactions and reduce false positives.
  • Comprehensive Screening Capability: Applied to proteome-wide screening of Homo sapiens and Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1, producing an interactome of 763 predicted interactions with a highly connected network topology.

Scientific Applications:

  • Drug Target Identification: Prioritized host-pathogen PPIs support identification of novel antibacterial targets.
  • Host-Pathogen Research: Enables exploration of pathogenic mechanisms and host responses at the molecular interaction level.

Methodology:

Numerical encoding of protein features based on physicochemical properties; incorporation of phenotypic data into the predictive model; proteome-wide screening of Homo sapiens and Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 yielding 763 predicted interactions.
