HuCoPIA
HuCoPIA provides a comprehensive database of human–betacoronavirus protein-protein interactions to support analysis of molecular mechanisms for SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV, and MERS.
Key Features:
- Comprehensive Interaction Data: Contains approximately 100,000 documented human–betacoronavirus protein-protein interactions, including 41,173 for SARS-CoV-2, 31,997 for SARS-CoV, and 26,862 for MERS.
- Strain-Specific and Common Interactions: Categorizes interactions into those common across all three strains and those unique to each strain.
- Functional Annotation of Human Proteins: Enriches human proteins involved in interactions with subcellular localization, tissue expression profiles, KEGG pathway involvement, and Gene Ontology information.
Scientific Applications:
- Vaccine Development: Identifies potential human–viral protein interaction targets for vaccine development and supports assessment of vaccination-related mechanisms.
- Disease Diagnosis and Monitoring: Aids identification of specific human–virus interaction patterns relevant to diagnosis and monitoring of betacoronavirus exposure.
- Biotherapeutic Production: Informs design of biotherapeutics by revealing unique and shared interactions across strains.
- Comparative Analysis: Enables comparative studies of SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV, and MERS interactions to examine evolutionary aspects and functional divergences.
Methodology:
HuCoPIA compiles interaction data through rigorous curation processes and organizes the data in a database structure that supports querying and analysis of interactions.
