HumiR

HumiR provides an integrated resource for analysis and annotation of human microRNAs (miRNAs), enabling quantification, prediction of novel miRNAs and isomiRs, detection of arm-switch events, target and pathway prediction, cataloging of miRNA variations, and profiling of expression across tissues, organs, and cell types.

Key Features:

  • miRNA Analysis Tools: Specialized computational tools for quantification, prediction of novel miRNAs, identification of isomiRs and arm-switch events, and for target and pathway prediction.
  • Databases on miRNAs and Variations: Catalogs of human miRNAs and their sequence or annotation variations for downstream analysis.
  • Expression Profile Databases: Collections of miRNA expression profiles across tissues, organs, and cell types to support differential and tissue-specific expression analyses.
  • miRNA Helper Tools: Utilities for miRNA naming conversion and reporter assay design.

Scientific Applications:

  • Disease-associated miRNA analysis: Use of pathway enrichment and target prediction to analyze miRNAs implicated in complex diseases, exemplified by Alzheimer's disease, to identify potential therapeutic targets and molecular mechanisms.
  • Tissue- and condition-specific expression profiling: Identification of tissue- or condition-specific regulatory roles of miRNAs using expression profile databases.

Methodology:

Integration of species-specific computational tools tailored for human small non-coding RNAs, combining analysis tools and databases while acknowledging limited interoperability among resources.
