Hystorian
Hystorian provides Python-based conversion, storage, and processing of materials characterization datasets by converting proprietary formats to HDF5 to improve traceability, reproducibility, and archival of experimental data.
Key Features:
- Data Conversion and Storage: Converts proprietary data formats into open hierarchical data format (HDF5) files for standardized, interoperable dataset storage.
- Workflow Management: Automatically stores datasets together with their corresponding processing workflows in a single location.
- Traceability and Reproducibility: Maintains comprehensive records of data processing steps to support traceability and reproducibility.
- Extensibility and Integration: Includes a basic toolkit for scanning probe microscopy and x-ray diffraction analysis and can wrap over pre-existing processing functions to extend functionality.
Scientific Applications:
- Materials data management: Centralizes and standardizes large-scale materials characterization datasets for interoperability and archival.
- Correlative characterization analysis: Enables integration and joint analysis of data from multiple techniques, including scanning probe microscopy and x-ray diffraction.
Methodology:
Implemented in Python, Hystorian converts proprietary formats to HDF5, stores datasets with their processing workflows, records processing steps for traceability, and provides a basic toolkit for scanning probe microscopy and x-ray diffraction with the ability to wrap pre-existing processing functions.
