iDASH
iDASH leverages the Ethereum blockchain and smart contracts to securely store and efficiently query pharmacogenomics gene-drug interaction data to support precision medicine guided by genomic variants.
Key Features:
- Blockchain Integration: Utilizes Ethereum for decentralized, immutable storage of pharmacogenomics data.
- Smart Contracts: Implements smart contracts executed on the Ethereum Virtual Machine to manage storage and querying of gene-drug interaction data.
- Index-Based Multi-Mapping Approach: Employs an index-based, multi-mapping strategy to improve time and space efficiency in data management.
- Scalability and Query Efficiency: Provides an initial solution with constant memory usage for insertion and querying and linear query times, and a "fastQuery" solution with pooled data storage that achieves constant-time 0-AND queries and maintains constant query time for 1- and 2-AND queries.
Scientific Applications:
- Precision Medicine: Enables use of gene-drug interaction data in pharmacogenomics to tailor treatment decisions based on individual genomic variants.
- Biomedical Data Integrity and Access: Can be adapted for other biomedical datasets, including clinical trial data, to provide high-integrity storage and efficient access.
Methodology:
Smart contracts executed on the Ethereum Virtual Machine were implemented to store and query gene-drug interaction data, and performance testing was conducted with Truffle (v5.0.31) on datasets ranging from 100 to 1000 entries.
