iBIG
iBIG constructs and visualizes gene interaction and regulatory networks to identify and analyze functional modules perturbed across human diseases.
Key Features:
- Integration of Gene Interaction Data: Compiles diverse gene interaction and regulatory data for comprehensive network construction.
- Functional and Physical Network Construction: Constructs physical networks, including protein-protein interactions and pathway interactions, and functional-level networks representing affected biological processes.
- Annotation and Visualization: Annotates generated networks with multiple information types and provides visualization for interpretation.
- Microarray Data Processing (R package): Employs a supplementary R package to process microarray data and identify key genes from large datasets.
- Multi-disease Microarray Integration: Processes 54 microarrays spanning cancer, neurological disorders, infectious diseases, and other common conditions as inputs for network analyses.
- Functional Module Network Generation: Generates networks of functional modules that are perturbed across the analyzed disease categories.
Scientific Applications:
- Disease mechanism elucidation: Integrates interaction and functional networks to provide insights into mechanisms underlying human diseases.
- Pathway and process disruption analysis: Enables exploration of disrupted biological processes and pathways across disease conditions.
- Gene prioritization from expression data: Prioritizes key genes from microarray datasets for downstream network-based analyses.
Methodology:
Processes microarray data using a supplementary R package to identify key genes from 54 microarrays covering cancer, neurological disorders, infectious diseases, and other conditions, and uses those genes as input for construction of physical (protein-protein and pathway) and functional networks.
