iep
iep calculates the isoelectric point (pI) of proteins to determine protein net charge as a function of pH and inform analyses of solubility and interaction properties.
Key Features:
- Isoelectric Point Calculation: Computes isoelectric point (pI) values for proteins to assess net charge-related properties.
- Integration with EMBOSS: Implements pI computation within the EMBOSS framework using the EMBOSS C programming libraries.
- Extensibility via ACD: Supports Application Configuration Definition (ACD) files to modify tool behavior and parameters without changing source code.
Scientific Applications:
- Protein Analysis: Uses pI values to predict protein solubility and interaction properties relevant to proteomics and structural biology.
- Bioinformatics Research: Provides pI calculations for incorporation into larger bioinformatics analysis pipelines.
Methodology:
Performs pI computation using EMBOSS C programming libraries with configurable parameters provided via Application Configuration Definition (ACD) files.
