iDOM
iDOM enables statistical analysis and visualization of dissolved organic matter (DOM) data derived from Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS) to bridge chemical characterization and ecological interpretation.
Key Features:
- Molecular trait calculation: Computes molecular traits from DOM compositional data.
- Molecular class assignment: Assigns molecular classes to DOM compounds.
- Compositional analysis: Analyzes chemical diversity and dissimilarity of DOM.
- Data integration: Integrates environmental and microbial explanatory data to explore relationships between DOM and abiotic or biotic drivers.
- DOM assembly quantification: Quantifies DOM assembly processes using advanced statistical functions.
- Dark matter analysis: Assesses effects of uncharacterized molecules (dark matter) on molecular interactions.
- Ecological network analysis: Analyzes ecological networks between DOM and microbial communities.
- Response analysis: Explores responses of DOM-microbe interactions to environmental changes such as experimental warming.
Scientific Applications:
- Biogeochemical cycle research: Supports study of DOM-microbial interactions in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
- Climate change studies: Analyzes DOM and microbial community responses to experimental warming.
- Molecular ecology: Links DOM chemical characterization to ecological theory and interpretation.
Methodology:
iDOM is implemented as an R package with functions for basic and advanced statistical analyses and visualization of FT-ICR MS-derived DOM data, handling molecular compositional data, molecular traits, and uncharacterized molecules (dark matter).
