immunospdb
immunospdb consolidates a curated repository of 553 experimentally validated immunosuppressive peptides from 79 research articles and 32 patents for analysis of peptide sequences, structures, targets, and mechanisms relevant to autoimmune disorders, asthma, and organ transplantation.
Key Features:
- Extensive Data Compilation: Detailed entries include peptide name, sequence, chirality, chemical modifications, origin, nature, target, mechanism of action, amino acid frequency, and composition.
- Structural Insights: Tertiary-structure annotations are provided for peptides using PEPstrMOD and I-TASSER.
- Statistical Analysis: Dataset statistics report 91% linear peptides, 62% ≤20 amino acids in length, 81% composed of L-form amino acids, ~30% with chemical or end-terminal modifications, 41% derived from proteins, and 27% naturally occurring.
- Target Specificity: A substantial subset of entries (24%) target potassium ion channels.
Scientific Applications:
- Drug Discovery and Development: Sequence and structural data support identification and optimization of peptide-based immunosuppressive candidates.
- Mechanistic Studies: Target and mechanism annotations enable investigation of immune-modulatory actions, including effects on potassium ion channels.
- Comparative Analysis: Property annotations (length, chirality, modifications, composition, origin) facilitate comparative studies to identify correlations with immunosuppressive activity.
Methodology:
Tertiary structures were annotated using PEPstrMOD and I-TASSER.
