IPC

IPC calculates the isoelectric point (pI) of proteins and peptides from amino acid sequences to support proteomics and biochemical analyses.


Key Features:

  • Multiple pKa sets: Implements different dissociation constant (pKa) sets, including two novel computationally optimized pKa sets for pI estimation.
  • Benchmark performance: The optimized pKa sets outperform existing methods by at least 14.9% for proteins and 0.9% for peptides on average (22.1% and 59.6%, respectively).
  • Reduced average error: Reports reduced average error of 0.87 pH units for proteins and 0.25 pH units for peptides.

  • Capillary isoelectric focusing: pI predictions assist in selecting and interpreting isoelectric focusing conditions in capillary formats.
  • High-throughput mass spectrometry workflows: pI values can be combined with mass spectrometry data to improve protein identification and characterization.
  • Protein crystallization trials: Accurate pI estimation aids in optimizing buffer pH and other conditions for protein crystallization.
