KANPHOS

KANPHOS catalogs kinase-associated neural protein phosphorylation events in the brain to support analysis of kinase–substrate relationships and phospho-signaling pathways.


Key Features:

  • Extensive Phosphorylation Site Cataloging: Contains approximately 280,000 phosphorylation sites identified in the brain from mass spectrometry-based proteomics.
  • Kinase-Substrate Mapping: Integrates comprehensive screening data to assign candidate kinases to specific phosphorylation sites, with emphasis on kinases such as PKA and Rho-kinase.
  • Integration of Novel and Existing Data: Combines newly identified phosphorylation signals with previously reported datasets to provide a consolidated view of neural phospho-signaling.
  • XooNIps platform: Implemented on the next-generation XooNIps neuroinformatics platform.
  • Functional Pathway Analysis: Registers and analyzes phosphoproteomics data to support exploration of signaling pathways, including adenosine-A2A-receptor signaling and downstream MAPK-mediated pathways in the striatum/nucleus accumbens.

  • Neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorder research: Supports investigation of molecular mechanisms in autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and schizophrenia via kinase–substrate and phosphorylation analyses.

  • Phosphoproteomics data interpretation: Provides a resource for contextualizing mass spectrometry–derived phosphorylation datasets within neural signaling networks.

Methodology:

Phosphorylation sites were identified by mass spectrometry-based proteomics; methods for comprehensive screening of kinase substrates upon extracellular signal stimulation were developed and their results were integrated and registered for downstream analysis of phosphoproteomics datasets.
