LA-iMageS

LA-iMageS generates two-dimensional and three-dimensional elemental distribution images from Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) and ICP-MS spectral data for spatially resolved quantitative elemental analysis.

Key Features:

  • Elemental Distribution Imaging: Visualizes the spatial distribution of elements within samples, supporting analysis at micro- and nano-scale resolution.
  • 2D/3D Image Generation: Produces both two-dimensional and three-dimensional elemental maps for dimensional interpretation of compositional data.
  • ICP-MS Spectra Processing: Processes ICP-MS spectra, including LA-ICP-MS data, to extract quantitative elemental signals used in image construction.

Scientific Applications:

  • Biological Research: Maps elemental distributions in tissues and cells to study mineralization, trace element homeostasis, and toxicology.
  • Materials Science: Characterizes spatial elemental heterogeneity in heterogeneous materials such as composites and geological samples.

Methodology:

Integrates and processes LA-ICP-MS (ICP-MS) spectral data to construct quantitative two-dimensional and three-dimensional elemental distribution images.
