ListiWiki

ListiWiki provides curated genomic and functional data for Listeria monocytogenes to support studies of bacterial physiology, virulence, and intracellular host–pathogen interactions.

Key Features:

  • Genomic Annotation: Provides up-to-date annotations for the Listeria monocytogenes reference strain EDG-e.
  • Functional Data Integration: Integrates comprehensive data on genes, proteins, and RNAs, including gene essentiality, expression profiles, and subcellular localization of proteins.
  • Predictive Networks: Predicts protein-protein interaction networks by protein homology with Bacillus subtilis and leverages interaction maps from SubtiWiki.
  • Structural Insights: Integrates crystallographic data via Protein Structure Database codes and AlphaFold structure predictions to provide structural information for proteins.

Scientific Applications:

  • Basic Research: Supports investigation of genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying L. monocytogenes physiology and virulence.
  • Genomic Epidemiology: Supports genomic pathogen surveillance and outbreak analysis, facilitating detection of transmission chains given the relative stability of the L. monocytogenes genome.

Methodology:

Homology-based prediction of protein–protein interactions using Bacillus subtilis interactions from SubtiWiki; integration of crystallographic data via Protein Structure Database codes and incorporation of AlphaFold structure predictions; aggregation of gene essentiality, expression profile, and subcellular localization datasets; curation of genomic annotations for reference strain EDG-e.
