LncRNADisease

LncRNADisease v3.0 integrates and curates experimentally supported associations between long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), including circular RNAs (circRNAs), and diseases to support investigation of molecular mechanisms, biomarker discovery, and therapeutic target identification.

Key Features:

  • Extensive Data Collection: Contains 25,440 curated entries of experimentally supported lncRNA and circRNA–disease associations derived from the literature.
  • Confidence Scoring System: Assigns a confidence score to each lncRNA–disease pair based on the level of experimental evidence supporting the association.
  • Classification of Associations: Distinguishes general (15,721 entries) and causal (9,719 entries) associations, with causal associations indicating direct contribution to disease development or progression.
  • Cross-Species Analysis: Supports cross-species analyses, exemplified by calculation of phenotypic similarities between human and mouse lncRNAs for translational research.

Scientific Applications:

  • Biomarker Discovery: Enables identification of candidate lncRNA and circRNA biomarkers for diagnosis or prognosis based on curated experimentally supported associations.
  • Therapeutic Development: Highlights causal lncRNA–disease associations that can inform selection of potential RNA-based therapeutic targets.
  • Basic Research: Provides a comprehensive dataset for generating hypotheses and studying molecular mechanisms of lncRNA- and circRNA-related disease processes.

Methodology:

Data are systematically integrated from scientific publications and meticulously curated so that each database entry is supported by experimental evidence.
