meshr
meshr is a software tool that enhances functional genomics studies by offering a novel approach to overrepresentation analysis (ORA), a method used to assess the enrichment of specific biological terms in gene lists associated with biological phenomena. Unlike traditional ORA that primarily utilizes Gene Ontology (GO) for classifying and annotating gene products, meshr incorporates Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) to provide a broader life science vocabulary, encompassing categories beyond GOs. This inclusion of MeSH, a resource more commonly applied in human and model organism research, is particularly innovative in livestock genetics, where its full potential remains largely untapped.
