MEtabolomes, TRaits, and INteractions-Knowledge Graph
METRIN-KG constructs a knowledge graph that integrates enriched plant metabolite data, trait data, and biotic interaction data to enable cross-domain queries on taxonomic relationships, traits, and species interactions.
Key Features:
- Multi-source data integration: Integrates enriched metabolite data from Experimental Natural Products Knowledge Graph (ENPKG), LOTUS (available through Wikidata), plant trait data from TRY database, and biotic interaction data from Global Biotic Interactions (GloBI).
- Taxonomic alignment: Performs taxonomic alignment against Wikidata records.
- RDF triple generation: Generates Resource Description Framework (RDF) triples representing taxonomic relationships, traits, and species interactions.
- SPARQL endpoint: Provides a queryable SPARQL (SPARQL Protocol and RDF Query Language) endpoint for the resulting knowledge graph.
Scientific Applications:
- Cross-domain biodiversity research: Enables interactive searching for data relating plant metabolomes, traits, and interactions to facilitate development of research questions in life sciences.
- Conservation and ecology: Supports research in conservation, ecological forecasting, and ecosystem function analysis through integrated plant trait and interaction data.
- Natural products and drug development: Facilitates exploration of plant metabolite data in conjunction with taxonomic and ecological context for drug development research.
Methodology:
The pipeline performs taxonomic alignment against Wikidata records and generates RDF triples from integrated data sources.
