MGEnrichment

MGEnrichment performs statistical enrichment analysis of gene lists against a curated database of microglia-relevant gene sets to support interpretation of gene expression data.

Key Features:

  • Curated Database: A curated collection of microglia-relevant gene lists compiled from published studies.
  • Example Datasets: Includes example differentially expressed genes (DEGs) from human postmortem brain samples comparing individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and matched controls.
  • Statistical Enrichment Analysis: Implements statistical enrichment analysis to assess significance of gene list overlap with curated microglia gene sets.
  • Comparison to Established Datasets: Enables comparison of input gene lists against established microglial gene sets to identify biological overlaps and signatures.

Scientific Applications:

  • Microglia Research: Supports analysis of gene regulation and functional roles of microglia, the resident immune cells of the central nervous system.
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD): Facilitates exploration of DEGs associated with ASD to investigate effects on microglial development, microbiome interactions, and connections to other neuropsychiatric conditions.
  • Neuro-Immune Activation: Enables study of neuro-immune activation processes and immune responses within the nervous system using gene expression data.

Methodology:

Uses statistical enrichment analysis to assess the significance of gene lists against curated microglia-relevant datasets.
