MHCBN
MHCBN provides a curated database of peptides that bind and do not bind Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) molecules, containing sequence and structural information for peptides, their source proteins, and MHC molecules to support studies of peptide–MHC interactions.
Key Features:
- Dataset size (version 4.0): Contains 19,777 entries derived from published literature and existing databases.
- MHC coverage: Includes data for over 400 distinct MHC molecules.
- Binder and non-binder annotations: Documents 17,129 MHC binders and 2,648 non-binders.
- Sequence and structural information: Provides sequence and structural details for peptides, source proteins, and MHC molecules.
- Peptide mapping: Maps peptides onto query sequences to identify peptide locations within source proteins.
- Field-based search: Supports searches across multiple database fields for targeted data retrieval.
- Custom dataset generation: Enables creation of user-specified datasets tailored to research needs.
- Data submission: Accepts online submission and incorporation of new peptide–MHC data.
- External database links: Integrates with SWISS-PROT, PDB (Protein Data Bank), IMGT/HLA-DB, GenBank, and PUBMED.
Scientific Applications:
- T-cell epitope mapping: Supports identification and analysis of candidate T-cell epitopes based on peptide–MHC binding data.
- Autoimmune disease research: Facilitates studies linking MHC alleles and peptide presentation to autoimmune mechanisms.
- Vaccine development: Provides peptide binding and structural data relevant to vaccine antigen selection and design.
- Peptide–MHC interaction studies: Enables comparative and structural analyses of peptide–MHC binding dynamics.
Methodology:
Provides peptide mapping onto query sequences, field-based search, custom dataset generation, online data submission, and links to external databases.
