miRPathDB

miRPathDB catalogs putative associations between microRNAs (miRNAs), target genes, and pathway/functional-category mappings to support analysis of miRNA roles in gene regulation and biological pathways.

Key Features:

  • Expanded Data Repository: Contains putative associations of 27,452 candidate miRNAs with 28,352 target genes across 16,833 pathways for Homo sapiens and interactions of 1,978 miRNAs with 24,898 targets across 6,511 functional categories for Mus musculus.
  • Pre-processed Data: Includes a ten-fold increase in pre-processed data compared to the previous release.
  • Putative miRNA–Target Associations: Compiles predicted and reported miRNA–target interaction records mapped to pathways and functional categories.
  • Extended Analysis Functionality: Implements additional analysis capabilities for downstream processing of bulk queries based on an analysis of publications citing the prior version.

Scientific Applications:

  • miRNA Functional Characterization: Identifying miRNA involvement in specific biological pathways and functional categories.
  • Gene Regulation and Pathway Analysis: Supporting analyses of gene regulation and pathway enrichment related to miRNA activity.
  • Disease Mechanism Investigation: Enabling studies that link miRNA–target interactions to disease mechanisms.
  • Therapeutic Target Nomination: Facilitating the identification of miRNA-associated candidate therapeutic targets.

Methodology:

Data were pre-processed and compiled into putative miRNA–target associations and interactions, and additional functionalities were added based on analysis of publications citing the previous version.
