Mice-N-Mates
Mice-N-Mates provides tools for studying mouse behaviour in home-cage environments, including automated behaviour classification and joint behaviour modelling across groups of mice with minimal human intervention.
Key Features:
- Activity Labelling Module (ALM): Automatically classifies mouse behaviour from video.
- Global Behaviour Model (GBM): Summarises the joint behaviour of groups of mice across cages using a permutation matrix to match mouse identities in each cage to the model.
- Training Datasets: Provides ABODe for training behaviour classifiers and IMADGE for modelling behaviour.
Scientific Applications:
- Home-Cage Behavioural Analysis: Enables study of mice in their home-cage environment rather than specialised arenas to avoid confounding effects.
- Temporal Behaviour Capture: Captures the temporal aspect of individual mouse behaviour.
- Social Interaction Modelling: Models the interaction and interdependence between cage-mates.
- Cross-Cage Behaviour Comparison: Applies a single model across multiple cages to summarise joint behaviour of mouse groups.
Methodology:
The Activity Labelling Module (ALM) performs automated classification of mouse behaviour from video. The Global Behaviour Model (GBM) uses a permutation matrix to match mouse identities in each cage to the model for joint behaviour summarisation.
