Microbial Genome Viewer

Microbial Genome Viewer visualizes microbial genomes by generating chromosome wheels and linear genome maps from annotated genome data to support integration and analysis of genomic and gene-expression datasets.

Key Features:

  • Chromosome wheels and linear maps: Generates chromosome wheels and linear genome maps from annotated genome data.
  • MySQL database integration: Reads annotated genome data stored in a MySQL database.
  • User-specified features and color coding: Incorporates user-specified features and color coding for annotated map visualization.
  • SVG output: Produces high-quality scalable vector graphics (SVG) images for visualization.
  • Dataset superimposition: Enables superimposition of gene-related datasets onto genome maps, including transcriptome data and time-course microarray experiments.

Scientific Applications:

  • Comparative genomics: Supports visualization and comparison of genomic features across microbial genomes.
  • Functional genomics: Integrates transcriptome data and time-course microarray experiments with genome annotations to assess gene expression patterns.
  • Systems biology: Maps genomic features and expression dynamics for systems-level analyses.
  • Expression–genome correlation: Enables correlation of genomic features with expression patterns and temporal changes in gene activity.

Methodology:

Generates chromosome wheels and linear genome maps from annotated genome data stored in a MySQL database, outputs SVG images, and supports overlaying transcriptome data and time-course microarray experiments onto the maps.
