MicroPattern

MicroPattern performs microbe set enrichment analysis and disease similarity calculation to identify disease-associated microbial patterns and links between conditions based on shared microbial associations and colonized body sites.

Key Features:

  • Microbe Set Enrichment Analysis: Groups microbes into predefined sets by associated diseases and colonized body positions and tests a user-provided list of microbes for enrichment to identify significantly represented sets.
  • Disease Similarity Calculation: Calculates disease similarity by analyzing shared microbe associations across diseases using previously developed algorithms to reveal connections between health conditions.

Scientific Applications:

  • Microbiome–disease association analysis: Enables exploration of connections between diseases based on common microbial profiles and potential underlying mechanisms linking conditions.
  • Dietary and environmental impact studies: Has been validated in analyses of microbial changes under conditions such as animal-based diets to study how diet and environmental factors influence the human microbiome and health outcomes.

Methodology:

Groups microbes into sets by disease and colonized body position, performs enrichment analysis on user-provided microbe lists, and computes disease similarity by analyzing shared microbe associations using previously developed algorithms.
