MiRProf

MiRProf quantifies normalized expression levels of small RNAs (sRNAs), providing accurate counts of reads that match known microRNAs (miRNAs) to support studies of miRNA-mediated regulatory processes.

Key Features:

  • Normalized quantification: Calculates normalized expression levels and provides accurate quantification of sRNAs matching known miRNAs.
  • Scalability: Processes large sRNA datasets efficiently to accommodate high-throughput analyses.
  • Genomic feature visualization: Generates visualizations of genomic features associated with sRNAs to aid interpretation of expression patterns.
  • miRNA-focused analysis: Identifies and quantifies sRNAs that match known miRNAs for targeted miRNA expression profiling.

Scientific Applications:

  • RNA silencing studies: Supports investigation of RNA silencing mechanisms mediated by sRNAs such as miRNAs.
  • Developmental biology: Enables analysis of miRNA expression changes relevant to developmental processes.
  • Pathogen control research: Facilitates study of miRNA roles in pathogen-host interactions and defense responses.
  • Genome maintenance: Assists studies on miRNA involvement in genome stability and maintenance.
  • Environmental response investigations: Supports analysis of miRNA expression changes in response to environmental changes.

Methodology:

MiRProf builds upon the UEA sRNA Toolkit and is part of the UEA sRNA Workbench.
