MMdb
MMdb provides a genome-wide repository of Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR), Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP), and Intron Length Polymorphism (ILP) markers for Musaceae to support genetic analysis and crop improvement in Musa species.
Key Features:
- Extensive Marker Repository: Contains 2,115,474 SSR markers, 63,588 SNP markers, and 91,547 ILP markers developed from thirteen Musa species and two related species.
- Marker Suitability and Characteristics: Reports that 77% of SSR loci are suitable for marker development, 38% of SNP markers originate from genic regions, and transitions (C↔T; A↔G) are more prevalent than transversions among SNPs.
- Searchable Marker Attributes: Supports searches and filtering based on chromosomal location, transferability, polymorphism, and functional annotation.
- Three-Tier Architecture: Implements a three-tier architecture with MySQL tables for data organization and retrieval.
Scientific Applications:
- Germplasm Characterization: Enables identification and classification of genetic diversity within Musa species.
- Gene Discovery: Facilitates locating genes associated with desirable traits for breeding programs.
- Population Structure Analysis: Supports analyses of genetic structure and evolutionary relationships among Musa populations.
- Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) Mapping: Assists in identifying genomic regions linked to agronomic traits for crop improvement.
Methodology:
Genome-wide SSR, SNP, and ILP markers were generated from thirteen Musa species and two related species, and the database is implemented using a three-tier architecture with MySQL tables.
