MOCCASIN

MOCCASIN converts ODE models implemented in MATLAB or Octave into SBML to enable exchange and reuse of biochemical reaction network models in systems biology.

Key Features:

  • Translation Capability: Converts ODE-based MATLAB and Octave models, including biochemical reaction network representations, into SBML format.
  • Support for Legacy Models: Handles legacy MATLAB models that were not originally developed for translation to ensure preservation of historical models.
  • Automated Script Interpretation: Automates conversion by interpreting MATLAB and Octave scripts that define ODEs.
  • SBML Compatibility Preservation: Preserves the original model structure and semantics while ensuring compatibility with SBML standards.

Scientific Applications:

  • Model Exchange and Interoperability: Facilitates exchange of ODE-based models in SBML for use across simulation and analysis tools.
  • Model Validation and Simulation: Enables validation and simulation of biochemical reaction network models in SBML-compliant software.
  • Reproducibility and Collaboration: Supports reproducibility and collaborative research by standardizing models in SBML.

Methodology:

Automated interpretation of MATLAB and Octave scripts that define ODEs and translation of those definitions into the SBML framework while maintaining model integrity and SBML compatibility.
