MolluscDB

MolluscDB aggregates genomic and transcriptomic sequences and associated annotations from 22 assembled mollusc species to support comparative genomics, phylogenetic inference, gene family analyses, and studies of biomineralization.

Key Features:

  • Data Aggregation: Aggregates genome assemblies and transcriptomes from 22 assembled species within the Mollusca phylum.
  • Ensembl Browser: Hosts genome annotations and coordinate-based feature access via an Ensembl instance.
  • BLAST Server: Provides a BLAST server for sequence similarity and homology searches across the mollusc datasets.
  • Phylogenetic Analysis: Supports phylogenetic inference using single-copy orthologues to estimate evolutionary relationships.
  • Gene Family Dynamics: Enables analysis of gene family size changes across species to investigate genomic evolution and adaptation.
  • Biomineralization Data: Includes annotations and sequences for biomineralization-associated enzymes and shell matrix proteins.

Scientific Applications:

  • Evolutionary Studies: Phylogenetic reconstruction and comparative genomics using single-copy orthologues across mollusc species.
  • Functional Genomics: Identification and characterization of gene families and biomineralization-associated enzymes and shell matrix proteins.
  • Molecular Ecology: Comparative genomic and transcriptomic analyses to investigate genetic patterns across mollusc taxa.

Methodology:

Aggregated genomic and transcriptomic assemblies from 22 species; provided sequence-based analyses via a BLAST server and genome annotation access through Ensembl; performed phylogenetic inference using single-copy orthologues; conducted gene family size change analyses; datasets include biomineralization-associated enzymes and shell matrix proteins.
