Molstar Viewer
Molstar Viewer renders and analyzes large biomolecular structures, including macromolecular assemblies determined by X-ray crystallography and electron microscopy, and supports streaming of molecular dynamics trajectories, cell-level models, and integrative/hybrid (I/HM) models.
Key Features:
- 3D Visualization: Renders large biomolecular structures and can display up to hundreds of superimposed protein structures simultaneously for comparative analysis.
- Data Streaming: Streams molecular dynamics simulation trajectories and cell-level models to enable inspection of dynamic processes.
- Integrative/Hybrid Methods (I/HM) Support: Displays extensive integrative/hybrid method models for assemblies derived from multiple experimental techniques.
- Annotations: Presents structure quality, functional, and biological context annotations alongside 3D models.
Scientific Applications:
- Repository Visualization: Employed by PDBe and RCSB PDB for 3D structure visualization of deposited entries.
- Structural Biology Research: Used for studying macromolecular machines and large assemblies determined by crystallography and electron microscopy.
- Molecular Interaction and Function Analysis: Enables exploration of complex biological systems to analyze molecular interactions and infer functional mechanisms.
Methodology:
The development combined LiteMol and NGL Viewers and provides high-performance graphics rendering and efficient data management.
