MORPHEUS_IJ
MORPHEUS_IJ performs automated, unsupervised cell morphometric analysis of fluorescence microscopy images to generate unbiased, reproducible quantitative cell- and nucleus-level shape descriptors within the Fiji/ImageJ2 environment.
Key Features:
- Automated Cell Recognition: Uses an unsupervised, nonparametric learning approach based on sampling distributions to identify and select suitable cells for analysis.
- Comprehensive Morphometric Analysis: Computes a wide array of cell-shape descriptors across all detected cells to provide quantitative morphological characterization.
- Optional Nucleus Feature Extraction: Extracts nucleus-specific features when nuclear channel data are available to augment cellular descriptors.
- Double-Scale Orientation Analysis: Performs optional double-scale analysis of cell orientation to evaluate alignment and spatial distribution within samples.
Scientific Applications:
- Cellular morphology studies: Quantifies cell-shape changes for investigations of cellular biology and developmental processes.
- Drug effect assessment: Measures morphological alterations in response to pharmacological treatments to evaluate effects on cellular architecture.
- High-throughput image analysis: Provides reproducible morphological descriptors for comparative studies across fluorescence microscopy datasets.
Methodology:
Applies an unsupervised, nonparametric method based on sampling distributions to identify suitable cells and then computes morphometric descriptors for each detected cell.
