MPTHub

MPTHub analyzes particle trajectories to quantify transport properties in biorelevant media for studying particle–biological interactions.

Key Features:

  • Data import from video microscopy: Imports trajectory data derived from video microscopy for subsequent analysis.
  • Rapid data processing: Processes trajectory datasets in under 10 seconds with a maximum memory footprint of approximately 150 MB of RAM.
  • Comprehensive transport metrics: Calculates individual and ensemble time-averaged mean square displacements (MSD), effective diffusivity, and anomalous transport exponents.
  • Data export: Exports calculated transport parameters for further analysis or publication.

Scientific Applications:

  • Fundamental biology: Quantifies particle dynamics to study particle–biological interactions relevant to cellular and tissue environments.
  • Toxicology: Assesses particle transport behavior relevant to toxicological evaluation of nanoparticles.
  • Medicine and drug delivery: Characterizes transport properties relevant to drug delivery systems and disease-related transport processes.
  • Environmental monitoring: Evaluates particle transport behaviors pertinent to environmental exposure scenarios.
  • Validation example: Applied to study transport of polystyrene nanoparticles (100–200 nm) within mucus surrogates.

Methodology:

Implemented in Python; imports trajectory data obtained from microscopy, processes the trajectories to calculate relevant transport parameters (MSD, effective diffusivity, anomalous exponents), and exports the results.
