MSAViewer

MSAViewer displays multiple sequence alignments to enable inspection of conserved regions, functional motifs, and sequence variation across homologous sequences.

Key Features:

  • Interactive Navigation: Enables interactive exploration and focused inspection of regions within large multiple sequence alignments.
  • Customizable Visualization: Applies various popular color schemes to highlight residue properties and alignment features.
  • Sorting, Selecting, and Filtering Options: Provides sorting, selection, and filtering of sequences and alignment columns to organize and isolate subsets for analysis.

Scientific Applications:

  • Comparative Genomics: Comparing sequence conservation and variation across genomes and homologous sequence sets.
  • Evolutionary Studies: Assessing sequence conservation and divergence to inform phylogenetic relationships.
  • Protein Structure and Function Analysis: Identifying conserved residues and motifs relevant to protein structure and function.
  • Detection of Conserved Regions and Motifs: Supporting identification of conserved sites, functional motifs, and sequence relationships among aligned sequences.

Methodology:

Implemented as a JavaScript BioJS component that dynamically renders multiple sequence alignments directly in the web browser.
