MSIGen
MSIGen processes and visualizes mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) data to support multiple acquisition modes—including MS^1, MS^2, MS^3, multiple-reaction monitoring (MRM)-MSI, and ion mobility spectrometry (IMS)-MSI—to improve molecular specificity and sensitivity.
Key Features:
- Support for Multiple Acquisition Modes: Handles MS^1, MS^2, MS^3, MRM‑MSI, and IMS‑MSI acquisition modes to enhance molecular specificity, distinguish isobaric and isomeric species, and improve sensitivity for low-abundance molecules.
- Line-Wise Data Acquisition: Processes line-wise MSI data acquired by continuous scanning along parallel lines to capture detailed spatial information across samples.
- Targeted Ion Image Extraction and Normalization: Performs targeted extraction of ion images and applies normalization procedures to ensure data consistency across experiments.
- Visualization and Export: Generates ion images and publication-quality figures and supports exportation of results as images, arrays, or publication-ready visuals.
- Vendor-Neutral Format Support: Accommodates multiple vendor-specific and open-source MSI data formats to maintain compatibility across different instrumentation.
Scientific Applications:
- Spatial molecular localization: Enables mapping of molecular distributions within complex samples to study spatial heterogeneity.
- Enhanced molecular specificity and sensitivity studies: Supports experiments using tandem MS, MRM, or IMS to resolve isobaric/isomeric species and detect low-abundance analytes.
- Sample types: Applicable to imaging of biological tissues, pharmaceutical compound distributions, and environmental sample analyses.
Methodology:
MSIGen processes MSI data using a Python-based architecture, incorporates advanced signal processing techniques to generate ion images, and applies normalization procedures to ensure consistency across experiments.
