msRepDB

msRepDB provides a comprehensive database of repetitive sequences across over 80,000 species using the LongRepMarker framework to support identification, classification, and comparative analysis of repeat families and individual repeats.

Key Features:

  • Species coverage: Includes repetitive-sequence entries from over 80,000 species.
  • Comparative coverage versus RepBase and Dfam: Assembles a broader collection of repetitive sequences across diverse taxa compared with RepBase and Dfam.
  • Repeat-family and individual-repeat completeness: Contains an expanded spectrum of repeat families and individual repeats to improve identification, classification, and annotation.
  • Underlying framework: Built using the LongRepMarker framework for comprehensive identification of genomic repeats.

Scientific Applications:

  • Genomic research: Enables studies of evolutionary dynamics, inheritance patterns, and genomic instability associated with repetitive elements.
  • Disease research and diagnosis: Supports investigation of chromosomal rearrangements and disease mechanisms and exploration of repeat-based diagnostic markers.
  • Plant and agricultural genomics: Facilitates analysis of repeats relevant to crop traits such as yield, resistance, and adaptability.
  • Drug development: Provides repeat-sequence data that can inform therapeutic strategies targeting diseases linked to chromosomal rearrangements.

Methodology:

msRepDB is generated using the LongRepMarker framework for comprehensive identification of genomic repeats.
