MusMorph

MusMorph provides an atlas-based phenotyping resource of aligned micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) images, dense anatomical landmarks, and segmentations across mouse developmental stages to enable quantitative analysis of craniofacial and brain morphology and genotype–phenotype studies.

Key Features:

  • Standardization Across Developmental Stages: Covers embryonic days E10.5, E11.5, E14.5, E15.5, E18.5, and adulthood to enable temporal comparisons of morphological change.
  • Extensive Data Collection: Comprises data from 10,056 specimens with aligned micro-CT images, dense anatomical landmarks, and segmentations where available.
  • Atlas-Based Phenotyping Pipeline: Employs an atlas-based phenotyping pipeline that integrates image registration, deep learning, and morphometrics to ensure consistent alignment to a standardized reference.
  • Anatomical Focus: Emphasizes the craniofacial complex and brain for targeted analyses of neurodevelopmental and craniofacial morphology.

Scientific Applications:

  • Genotype–Phenotype Mapping: Enables quantitative correlation of genetic variants with morphological traits across developmental stages.
  • Developmental Morphology and Meta-Analysis: Supports meta-analyses of morphological trajectories and temporal gene effects throughout mouse development.
  • Craniofacial and Neurodevelopmental Research: Facilitates investigation of craniofacial anomalies, brain morphology, and identification of candidate genetic targets for intervention.

Methodology:

Uses an atlas-based phenotyping pipeline integrating image registration, deep learning, and morphometrics to align specimens to a standardized reference; input data include aligned micro-CT images, dense anatomical landmarks, and segmentations.
